Thirty-five years ago, a young boy watched his Native American grandmother design, assemble and sew his family’s quilts. Today, contemporary Perceptual artist, Jason Wilson, influenced by his grandmother’s quilts, gives new life to old concepts.
His designs are about building the painting as much as painting the painting...involving hours of construction.
Perceptual Art asks its audience to visually or emotionally interact with the design. Some Perceptual Art appears to shimmer and shift while other designs may, for example, provide a sense of serenity and grace. By bringing his designs to life, Jason Wilson hopes to delight and inspire others.

The pollen lamp plays with reaction-diffusion at different scales to produce an organic effect. A simple sphere grows into a complex sculpted surface by layering reaction patterns at a micro and macro scale. The larger scale pattern creates the overall topography of the lamp while the smaller scale modulates the surface thickness to reveal a cellular texture when lit.
Light Fixture
The lamp comes with an eco-friendly 3-watt LED light fixture with three bright Cree LED's that will last for 6 years of continuous use. It is UL-listed and plugs into the wall.

I have been interested in science and engineering since I was little. Every summer break from junior high school I would visit and help out at my father’s factory in Taiwan. Hanging out at my Dad’s factory is one of my fondest childhood Memories. I couldn’t stop staring at those giant mechanical devices, and trying to figure out how they worked. Every part of each machine connected to another massive machine, moving and working smoothly together, just like a human body. While studying the human form I came see it as an incredible machine. Similar to the wonder that my father’s machines made me feel as a child, the human form fascinated me. Specific parts of the human form, like the organs, brain, and the way our bodies perceive the world around us are the focus of my work.

This 7" pendant lamp is covered by ridges and valleys that transmit different amounts of light when illuminated; they furnish a striking pattern whether the lamp is on or off.
We created the form by simulating a process where two chemicals diffuse across a surface and react with one another to form stable patterns. This process, reaction-diffusion, can be used to explain the intricate patterns found on the skin of many types of animals, from the spots of leopards to the radiating stripes of angelfish. Growing a pattern with different parameters can produce dramatically different results.
The lamp is 3d printed by means of Selective Laser Sintering. It comes complete with an eco-friendly 3W LED lighting fixture that will last for 8-10 years of continuous use and plugs into the wall.

Round Matte Black and Scarab Cufflinks
Utilizing high integrity materials like surgical grade stainless steel, with experience gleaned from half a century of industrial ball bearing manufacture, HollenWolff creates items of uncompromising quality. HollenWolff self-retaining cufflinks will only open when held “North/South.” (With the push-button facing down.) Which means they can only be operated by a man who knows which way is up. This mechanical metaphor was built into HollenWolff cufflinks for a reason. Like Excalibur and the stone, it only works for a man who has found his "True North." Each set is individually numbered via laser inscription for reasons of both warranty and history.

Colette Standish
Charcoal & Photography (Film) on Paper
Colette Standish's artwork presents the tensions that exist between opposites, centering around masculine and feminine, animus and anima. She uses the body as a point of reference, using blank space in the human form to evoke a spiritual presence and present the plane where tensions reside, at times invisible to the human eye. Her interactions with opposing forces cause her images to fragment offering a perceived balance and harmony of tension and the resulting discomfort.

Ant Pearce is an emerging British artist. He comes from a background in biochemistry and IT. He worked in the City of London as a senior business consultant for more than ten years before embarking on a life within the visual arts. After completing an intensive course at Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design, he enrolled in 2010 on the MA Visual Arts course at Camberwell College of Arts, graduating with Merit in late 2012. He has shown work in London and the UK, Europe and the US. His practice is based in London.
His practice focuses on the concept that man is condemned to exist imprisoned. Through his work he explores the fragility of life, drawing on human psychology. Influenced by Freud’s theories and the writings and philosophies of Dostoyevsky, Kafka and Camus, his work alludes to the idea that the omnipresent external authority is what brings about man’s aberrant destructive behaviours.

I draw inspiration from a range of sources, such as archaeology, artifacts, geology, landscape and plant matter.
My process comprises of an eclectic mix of adding and subtracting: controlling the medium yet allowing the accidental. I work in layers, creating then obscuring , revealing then hiding.
Painting surfaces are constantly multi-layered and renewed. This process-orientated method of constant re- defining allows a subject’s essence to reveal itself in its own time.

"I have chosen to follow the path of designing and building hand-crafted contemporary furniture because it brings me great joy. My designs are inspired from many sources, from walks in the woods to overseas travels, but mostly from the wood itself." - Brian Fireman
Brian Fireman earned his BS in Geology and MA in Architecture from Virginia Tech. He has spent much time traveling and kayaking around the world from Ecuador to Nepal. During is masters program, he worked his summers building and raising hand-cut timber frame structures where he learned the diverse traditions of woodworking and joinery. After school, while working for a high-end residential architecture firm, it became clear to Brian Fireman that he missed the truly hands-on approach to both designing and building, and in 2003 Brian Fireman Design was founded.
Brian Fireman works from his studio in the mountains of western North Carolina. Brian Fireman Design creates furniture that will last generations, increase in value, and enrich the lives of those who live with the work.
All work is made to order, and the careful selection of material is sourced locally and sustainably from the forests of western North Carolina.
There is an 8 to 12 week lead-time until shipment.
